Welded Wire Mesh Panels, Sheets and Rolls
Welded wire mesh panels, sheets and rolls are metal grids welded by a series of parallel horizontal and vertical steel wires, usually made of mild steel and stainless steel. Due to the strong welding point at the intersection of each horizontal and vertical steel wire, the stability of the opening is better than that of the woven wire mesh.
About Materials
Mild steel and low carbon stainless steel are the most common grades because high carbon steels can cause stress corrosion cracking in welds. Commonly used material grades of low carbon steel are US ASTM A36 steel, European S185, S235, S275, S355, Japanese SS400, Chinese GB Q195, Q235, Q275, Q345, etc; commonly used stainless steel grades are AISI 302, 304, 316, 316L, 430, etc, European EN 1.4301, 1.4401, 1.4306, 1.4404, etc.
About Surface Treatment
Due to the excellent rust resistance of stainless steel in air, fresh water and weak acid environments, surface treatment is generally not required unless otherwise used such as to be further processed into handicrafts or decorative mesh, etc.
The common surface treatments of welded wire mesh sheets, panels and rolls are galvanized, galvanized and plastic coated. Galvanizing is divided into electro-galvanizing and hot-dip galvanizing.
- Electro galvanizing, also known as cold galvanizing, is the process of using electrolysis to form a uniform and dense metal zinc deposit on the surface of the workpiece. It is one of the cheapest surface treatment processes.
- Hot-dip galvanizing is to immersing the welded mesh panels in a molten zinc bath, so that a thicker zinc layer is attached to the surface. The cost is much higher than electro galvanizing.
- Plastic coating refers to covering the surface of the welded wire mesh with plastic powder, and then through high temperature treatment, the powder melts and adheres to the surface of the steel wire. The cost is between electrogalvanized and hot-dip galvanized.
- Galvan coated, Galvan is a zinc-aluminum alloy, which is more expensive than hot-dip galvanizing and has better corrosion resistance.
Product Form
According to delivery conditions, packaging and size requirements, the product forms of weld mesh are panels, sheets, and rolls, etc.
- Weld mesh panels or heavy duty welded wire, usually with larger wire diameters.
- Weld mesh sheets, usually with smaller wire diameters.
- Weld mesh rolls, usually made of fine wire, can be rolled into rolls by rollers, generally 30m (100 ft) in length.
